Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on 24 August 1972. When she was a young girl, DuVernay's aunt Denise encouraged her passion for art and creativity. Aunt Denise worked the night shift as a nurse so she could follow her passion of theater and literature throughout the day. She showed DuVernay to the film of 1961 West Side Story and DuVernay was captivated by it. DuVernay realized after watching her mother's model of that art can be an instrument for activism. DuVernay developed a social conscious by her mother. DuVernay was born in Compton by her parents however, she spent her summers in Lowndes County Alabama. This is where the family of DuVernay's father was for many generations. The father of DuVernay's recollects seeing the historic march of the Civil Rights Movement across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was located in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. Her summers in Alabama's Selma would influence her later on to create a film about Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the year 1990, DuVernay was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. After graduating she attended the University of California Los Angeles where she earned qualifications in English and African American studies. DuVernay started broadcasting journalism at the age of a young student. She began her career working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was told to look at the trash of the home of a juror. She was disappointed by her journalistic duties and decided to move into the field of public relations. DuVernay started her first job as a publicity specialist in a small production studio right out of school. The year 1999 was the time she founded her own company that specialized in public relations, The DuVernay Agency. The agency was the first to launch a variety of promotions and lifestyle channels that include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley has the birth star of. Her fame is due to her role as Anna Payne in American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was in the role as Rose and Anna Payne for A More Perfect Union.
